This debut album represents a very personal part of Hannes Smith's life consisting of various events and little stories which evolved at the parent's house in Cunewalde near Bautzen, above and beneath the roofs of Berlin, in the train, car or aircraft, before and after performances and throughout a support tour for the Icelandic band Bloodgroup in Spring 2012 and with partial recording in virtual collaboration with Veronique Jacques, M-Band and Rachael Boyd.
Commencing with first outlines in Winter 2012, Hannes Smith has revised over 150 different song ideas and discarded a vast chunk, completing the mastering only in November 2012. Finally, 11 pieces made it onto the album. A percussive piano, gently touching string passages as well as a selection of well-dosed electronical elements are meandering through Hannes Smith's 'Fairy-tale Forest' in an aerial and dreamy way, providing a considerably greater narrative character compared to some of his previous work. Even though the focus of the tracks does not merely lie on danceable beats - as usual - they are still there: Sometimes, they secretly sneak around the corner, while often they modestly stay at the background. However, the clubbing context of Hannes Smith still gets through each pore with these entirely new and different tracks.
"The idea for creating an own album exists already for two years. But only now, I have felt matured enough for such a comprehensive production process showing some new, very personal facets of myself." Hannes Smith is an artistic 360-degrees one-man-business: The 26-year-old manages the entire cycle from recording, producing, mastering, CD case design, art work all the way through the publishing process.

For more than ten years now, Hannes has spread his music from Montreal over Rekjavik to Basel with no plans of slowing down. Some call Hannes a dancefloor romanticist who has been residing in Berlin for some time now....more
